Skincare Regimen For Different Skin Types

There are many skin types and each skin type’s needs differ. Be it a makeup product or following a skincare regimen, one must know their skin type. Initially, it might seem like a daunting task but once you know your skin type, the fear of any skincare regimen reacting to your skin fades away. So without further ado here is all the inspiration you need to take care of different skin types.

  1. Dry Skin Type

Dry skin type is a skin type that needs more moisturization than any other skin type. It is prone to fine lines and wrinkles. To take care of dry skin use a gentle cleanser and do not take hot showers which can take away the natural oils from your skin. Go for a heavy moisturizer and do not use products that contain alcohol and other harmful ingredients which can cause dryness. People who have dry skin often suffer from bumpy and rough skin, tight and dull face.

     Steps

  • Begin your morning routine by washing your face followed by a hydrating cream.
  • Apply toner and then apply vitamin C serum.
  • Now use a hydrating moisturizer and sunscreen.
  • At night, apply a gentle cleansing lotion.
  • Go for a night cream before going to bed.
  1. Oily Skin Type

Oily skin is linked with many skin concerns like blackheads, pimples and whiteheads and is not easily managed. The reason behind oily skin is excess sebum production which makes your skin greasy and untidy. To take care of oily skin, go for products that do not secrete excessive oil. Avoid using heavy moisturizer. Opt for mattifying products and non-comedogenic products that do not block your pores.

         Steps

  • Begin with cleansing your face and remove the grime and excess oil and then apply oil-free foaming face wash.
  •  Then apply toner to keep sebaceous glands in check.
  • Apply vitamin C serum to get an even skin tone and reduce acne scars. Make sure to do a patch test to check if it suits your skin.
  •  Now apply mattifying moisturizer.
  • Apply a gel-based sunscreen that keeps excess sebum production in check.
  • Besides following this routine, also follow a proper night skincare routine for oily skin like removing your makeup, cleansing your face followed by a toner and then applying a vitamin C serum.

3. Combination Skin Type

Combination skin is a skin where you need to take care of both dry and oily skin. Causes of combination skin are oily or oil-prone T zone ( forehead, nose and chin),

dry or excessively dry T zone( cheeks and sometimes chin).

   Steps

  • Begin with using a gentle cleanser that can stabilize hydration and excess oil production.
  • Use a toner to keep up with your skin’s pH balance and also it keeps your sebaceous glands under control.
  • Go for hydrating moisturizers to keep your skin hydrated as these moisturizers tend to produce less oil. Avoid using heavy moisturizers.
  • Apply mattifying moisturizers on your T-zone areas and lastly go for gel-based sunscreen as it keeps dryness and oiliness under check.

4. Sensitive Skin

Sensitive skin is a skin that tends to get more irritable when you apply any skin care product and environmental aggregators like exposure to the sun. People who have sensitive skin can suffer from redness, dry and rough skin, itching and burning. Do a patch test before applying any makeup product to know if it suits you or not.

        Steps

  • Opt for natural products that contain skin-friendly properties.
  • Opt for a hydrating moisturizer that can calm your skin.
  • Make sure to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen while stepping out.
  • Do not spend time in the sun for long hours.

5. Normal Skin Type

You are lucky if you have normal skin as it is a sought-after skin type. You do not need to fret while choosing any cosmetics. It is a well-balanced skin that just needs adequate hydration and is neither dry nor oily.

         Steps

  • Go for a hydrating face wash and moisturizer.
  • You can opt for gel, cream or spray form of sunscreen.
  • Apply vitamin C serum while going to bed.

Final Thoughts

What works for oily skin may not work for dry or sensitive skin so it is essential to know your skin type. So knowing your skin type is important for any skincare regimen to work. By following a proper skincare routine you can bid farewell to any skin woe.
